about
One time Anna Tivel and Jeffrey Martin got into a cab in New Jersey on their way to an early morning flight home after a tour. Jeffrey spotted a grub wriggling around in Anna's hair. I think a grub counts as a bug. So this song only applies to Jeffrey.

Fiddlin' John Carson supposedly wrote this one. He was a complicated character. A milestone musician for the commercialization of white hillbilly music in the 1920's, Carson was also an avid and vocal racist who frequently attended KKK rallies and such. Truth is that bucket loads of folks have played and recorded this tune over the years, most famously Jerry Garcia and Davis Grisman in the 90's, and it's more accurately described as one of those songs that no one really owns. It's been floating around in various forms, pulled down and tweaked around by various folks at various times for various reasons.

An intimate look at a brilliant album, it puts an even greater focus on the wonderful lyrics and basic melodies. Interestingly, I now have a new favorite song on the album. PDD
